The overall experience this year for us has been very valuable to the team. All of the members were completely invested from the start and came to the table with a large amount of experience and technical knowledge.  In order to succeed, we reached out rapidly to many different sources, departments, organizations, and companies to ensure we would have the necessary resources to be a sustainable operation.

Indeed, our main principle is to maintain a rigid structure and to stick to strict deadlines. We were largely successful in the design and building of our programs and with our launch we were able to bring everyone together, causing small but solvable issue of a time delay in order for us to be able to have a successful launch.

We have learned that it’s critical to leave an excess buffer of time before deadlines to allow time to fix unseen problems before a critical window.

More than anything, we also learned the value of partners and their commitment and the adherence to a specific plan of action, faculties, departments, organizations, and companies to secure funding and ensure we have the proper resources to participate.

One of the main achievements this year has been the development of a firm structure and being able to stick to strict deadlines. We have gained a lot of technical as well as social experiences, but more importantly, we learned an enormous deal – sometimes via the hard way – about project development; an engaging cycle; fixing things when they go wrong; the management of people; group management and organization and communication.

We took the opportunity to recognize outstanding individuals among us and for their extraordinary contributions and dedication to the community, youth empowerment, scholastic excellence and creating conduits to foster sustainability”.

They are: Jasmine McCook, (Youth Ambassador); El-Melek Moore, (Chairman of Headstart for the City of New York); Anthony Hall, Sr. (Hall’s Express II Track Club); Pierre Gedeon (Public Advocate); Bibi Alli (Culture of Blessing Organization); Marie Afi (Mafricana Group LLC); and Sandra Marshal Hayes (Tafari Tribe).

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the individuals and supporters who worked tirelessly to make the GCUED JUBILATION SOIREE event a huge success.
